Each shearing yields one laundry basket of fleece per sheep. At right is a close up of the wool before it is washed. |

| We have Southdown sheep. Their wool is downy and short (right). Not the usual type to spin into fine yarn. But, we have found it very versatile. |

We often use natural dyes. This picture (left) shows wool dyed with indigo, marigold and undyed. |

We dye in pots and crock pots. Sometimes using koolade or commercial dyes (right). The gray (far right) is from a neighboring sheep with natural gray wool. |
