| The sheets of paper in this top row are all made from plant matter. Plants that I typically use are beet tops, leek greens, iris leaves, pumpkin shells, and banana peel. |

| Fibers from iris leaves make beautiful paper. (Pictured with plant papers in first row.) | ![]() |
Plant material is gathered from the garden. It is then cooked in a caustic solution for about five hours to break down the cellulose before it is ready to be used in paper making. |
|
Beet tops (top photo - far right) were used in this paper. |

I fold the paper in half to use as a note card and make an envelope to fit. | ![]() |
These (left) are 2"x2" gift cards with matching envelopes. |
| Abaca and cotton linter are two plant fibers that I also use in paper making. Flower petals, wool bits, confetti, herbs, and seeds can be added to make the paper more interesting and decorative. |
